Permission Requests
Conditions for Use of ISGS Publications and Maps
Some ISGS computer programs and other types of specialized intellectual works may be copyrighted or licensed.
In general, however, formally published ISGS maps, publications, and documents are considered to be in the public domain and may be reproduced in whole or in part with the stipulation that proper credit be given to the original ISGS source. When a portion of a larger work is to be republished, appropriate credit should be given to the original source of quotations, photographs, other illustrations, tables, and maps.
When required by the publisher, permission requests from the ISGS for its material should be addressed to Permissions, Illinois State Geological Survey, 615 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign, IL 61820 or e-mailed to nimz@isgs.illinois.edu. Requests should provide specific details about what ISGS material is to be used, the name of the publisher and the publication in which the material is to appear, and assurance that proper source credit will be given.
