Temporary Positions

The Illinois State Geological Survey offers a number of temporary hourly positions. Appointments may be part-time or full-time. Some positions are designed for undergraduate or graduate students. Those positions open to students only will be identified as Graduate Hourly Assistant or Undergraduate Hourly Assistant. Other positions are available to non-academic staff. Those positions will be identified as Hourly Assistant. Hourly positions are generally short term. Appointments tend to be semester-to-semester and most hourly appointments are for one year or less. Positions offered on an hourly-wage basis do not include benefits. Salaried temporary positions for less than nine months do not include benefits.

Applicants should note that positions are exempt from the State Personnel Code and are under the Board of Natural Resources and Conservation (BNRC) and follows BNRC policies and procedures. Positions are not part of a bargaining unit or a merit compensation program.
